Manchester City midfielder Rodri has expressed his belief that Lionel Messi, now with Inter Miami, is the frontrunner for this year’s Ballon d’Or award. Messi, along with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, is considered one of the leading candidates for the prestigious football accolade.
The winner of the 2023 Ballon d’Or is set to be revealed later this month.
Messi’s chances of winning his record-extending eighth Ballon d’Or have been bolstered by his role in leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He also secured the French Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain before his move to Inter Miami during the summer.
