Former Arsenal player Mesut Ozil believed the club deserved to win the Premier League.
“The initial years were extremely wonderful,” the former Germany international, who just announced his retirement from sports, told MARCA. We competed in the Champions League and had an outstanding coaching staff in Arsene Wenger and a superb team of players. Several things for me changed once he [Wenger] left the club.
“I’m not interested in starting the fire up again. I’m at ease right now and send my best wishes to the Arsenal supporters, who have always been incredibly encouraging of me.
“If they could celebrate winning the Premier League, I would be pleased for them. They merit it.
Manchester City, who are now in second place but still have a game in hand, are eight points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League standings.
