Manchester United legend Gary Neville has expressed shock over the referee’s failure to punish Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli for a foul on Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma during their Premier League clash on Sunday.
The former United defender labelled the decision ‘incredible.’
The Brazilian forward shoved into the Japanese during an aerial duel that the Brighton star won as he was closer to the ball.
Martinelli collided with Mitoma, and the Japan international was left in a heap while Brighton’s players surrounded the referee to urge him to take action.
Neville blasted the referee’s decision not to even book Martinelli.
“Oh, that’s not great at all,” Neville said on Sky Sports.
“Is he not booking him? Wow. That’s incredible. I don’t think I would have complained if that was a red. Or have I lost my mind?’
“I think that’s dangerous. He knows exactly what he’s doing.”
