Jay Jay Okocha Responds To Ronaldo Claiming Bruno Fernandes’ Portugal Goal. Austin Jay Jay Okocha, former Super Eagles captain, claims Bruno Fernandes scored Portugal’s opening goal against Uruguay in Monday’s World Cup match.
Fernandes scored twice in Portugal’s second World Cup match against Uruguay.
Fernandes’ first goal was initially given to Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, but it was later confirmed that the 37-year-old did not head in the cross from Fernandes before the ball ended up in the back of the net.
Ronaldo celebrated as he tried to claim the goal, but Okocha believes the former Manchester United forward was unfortunate because there are cameras everywhere.
“I love the celebration there, which every striker does, trying to claim any goal opportunity, but unfortunately for him [Ronaldo], there are cameras everywhere now. It was clearly Bruno’s goal,” Okocha told SuperSport.
“Credit to him for the run, I can give him the assist. Great assist for Ronaldo, but unfortunately for him, he did not claim that one.”
