Monday Odigie, the head coach of Bendel Insurance, has urged the Interim Management Committee, or IMC, to ease the burden on Nigeria Professional Football League teams by allowing more flexibility in game scheduling.
This season, the NPFL has a condensed schedule with games taking place on the weekends and during the week.
After his team’s 1-0 victory over Nasarawa United on Wednesday, Odigie made the remark.
In his post-game news conference, the former Golden Eaglets handler observed, “It’s a difficult game for us today as we labored from the beginning to the end – weariness arising from lengthy flights and crowded games are impacting the teams.”
“I sincerely hope that the league’s administrators would take the players’ suffering into account.”
Odigie also thought back on his victory over Nasarawa United.
Despite playing two challenging games in the span of four days, he said, “I’m grateful to God.”
“Nasarawa United is a hard-working team. They placed in the top six last season, and we praise God that we scored on our one and only opportunity.
