As one of the best ranked defenders during the competition, Gvardiol contributed to his nation’s third-place result.
He participated in all seven of Croatia’s matches and scored one.
According to Marca, Madrid wants to strengthen their backline, and the 20-year-old is a key priority.
Since 2020, Gvardiol has played for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, and if he were to transfer to Santiago Bernabeu, he may demand a sizable transfer price.
He has participated in 13 league games for Leipzig so far this year.
Gvardiol has also had a lot of Chelsea interest.
