Gianluigi Buffon names best goalkeeper he ever played against. Gianluigi Buffon, a legendary Italian goalkeeper, cited Petr Cech, a legend at Chelsea, as one of the finest keepers he had ever faced.
Buffon, who currently represents Parma in Serie B, claimed Cech was quite powerful back when he was a professional football player.
Buffon, who has previously played for both Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, said, “I don’t like these things,’ when asked if he was the finest goalie ever.
“I am highly knowledgeable about sports, especially football, and I believe I have faced many excellent goalkeepers. Nevertheless, many of them didn’t have the same good fortune as I did, so it is unfair to compare them.
One of the finest ever, Petr Cech was extremely powerful.
During his tenure at Chelsea, Cech made 494 appearances and registered 228 clean sheets.
In Chelsea’s successful 2011–12 UEFA Champions League campaign, the retiring goalkeeper was instrumental, saving winger Arjen Robben’s penalty in overtime.
While living in England, Cech also won three Premier League championships.
