Championship Akpom wins Player of the Month for December. The Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month honor for December 2022 goes to Chuba Akpom.
During the month, Akpom scored four goals in as many games for Middlesbrough.
The trophy was given to the forward, who was born in Nigeria, on Friday morning at the club’s practice facility, Rockliffe Park.
The 27-year-old scored once in the 2-1 victory against Luton Town and recorded a hat-trick in Boro’s 4-1 triumph over Wigan Athletic.
Akpom won the prize ahead of Viktor Gyokeres of Coventry City, Ahmad Diallo and Ross Stewart of Sunderland, and Illiman Ndiaye and James McActee of Sheffield United.
With 13 goals in 19 games, the striker is also the leading scorer in the Championship.
