CAF Confederation Cup Festus delighted as Rivers United beat DC Motema Pembe away. Austin Festus, the captain of Rivers United, is ecstatic following his team’s victory over DC Motema Pembe on Sunday evening.
In the third match of the CAF Confederation Cup, The Pride of Rivers prevailed 1-0.
The game-winning goal was scored in the 52nd minute by Ghanaian superstar Paul Acquah.
That was the first away victory in the competition for Stanley Eguma’s team this year.
After left-back Ebube Duru was dismissed for a hard catch, Rivers United played the entirety of the second half with just 10 players.
“We are thrilled with this victory. Festus told the Daily Post, “It was difficult, especially when we had a man sent off late in the first half.
The most crucial thing right now is to build on this in our next matches.
With the victory, the Nigerian champions climbed to the top of Group B.
In the rematch this weekend, the Port Harcourt club will host Motema Pembe.
