Franck Kessie has been signed by Barcelona on a free transfer till June 2026.
Barcelona Confirm Franck Kessie As Their First Summer Signing. The Ivorian international played defensive midfield for Milan during a successful season in which they won the Serie A title. He scored six goals and made 31 league games.
His presence might help Manchester United in their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, the talented midfielder for Barcelona who has been linked to the Red Devils all summer.
Last week, it was thought that De Jong‘s £55 million transfer to Manchester, plus any add-ons, was “90%” done. However, the deal has since stalled.
The LaLiga powerhouses are enmeshed in a financial crisis and unable to sign top transfer targets Raphinha, Bernardo Silva, and Robert Lewandowski.
However, Barcelona might feel more motivated to finalize De Jong’s transfer to Old Trafford now that Kessie’s trade has been disclosed and Andreas Christensen’s free contract is expected to be revealed later this week.
On Wednesday morning at the Nou Camp, Kessie will be introduced.
