Agoye commends Sunshine Stars players despite defeat to Rivers United. Sunshine Stars head coach, Edith Agoye, has commended his players despite their defeat to Rivers United on Monday.

The Owena Waves suffered a 1-0 loss to Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium Port-Harcourt in their rescheduled fixture.

Morice Chukwu scored the winning goal for Rivers United in the first half.

The defeat dented Sunshine Stars’ chances of qualifying for the NPFL Super Six competition.

Agoye, however, assured that his team will restrategize ahead of the final league game agaist relegated Dakkada at the Ondo Sports Complex.

“I commend the boys for a good job, we just need to forge ahead,” Agoye stated.

“It’s not the result we wanted but we will go back and restrategize ahead of our next game against Dakkada.”

Sunshine Stars are fourth on the Group B table with 24 points.
