World Cup FIFA confirms fresh death in Qatar. The current World Cup in Qatar has claimed the life of another immigrant, according to FIFA, the international governing body of football.
The football organization expressed its “deep sadness” at the death of the migrant worker at the competition.
The Athletic reports that a Filipino immigrant in his 40s who was employed as a maintenance worker at a hotel used by Saudi Arabia’s national team as a training facility passed away early in the competition.
The incident included a forklift truck, according to the report.
“FIFA is very saddened by this loss and our thoughts and sympathy are with the worker’s family,” said a statement provided to the BBC.
As soon as FIFA learned of the incident, we got in touch with the local authorities to ask for additional information.
To find out what caused the migrant worker’s death, it was further said that investigations are ongoing.
