Qatar 2022 Portugal FA speaks on Ronaldo’s threat to leave World Cup

Qatar 2022 Portugal FA speaks on Ronaldo’s threat to leave World Cup. The Portuguese FA has refuted a story that said Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of the national team, had threatened to skip the World Cup.

Record claims that after learning he wouldn’t be playing against Switzerland in the round of 16, Ronaldo informed head coach Fernando Santos that he might jet out of Qatar.

The 37-year-old reportedly finally became more composed after realizing how his departure may affect the squad.

However, these allegations were refuted by the Portugal Football Federation in a statement.

“News reported this Thursday claims that Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to quit the national team during a chat with Fernando Santos, national coach,” reads the statement.

The FPF makes it clear that throughout his internship in Qatar, national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo never made a threat to quit the squad.
