He’ll do well there – McAvennie reveals Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic’s next club. Former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie has claimed that Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic is heading to Manchester United this summer.
He also believes the Croatia international would be a perfect signing for Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils.
The 29-year-old World Cup semi-finalist has been speculated to leave Stamford Bridge this summer as the Blues try to reduce the size of their squad, which has over 30 players at the moment.
The Croatian has just 14 months left in his current contract, and Chelsea are also aiming to cash in on him soon to balance their books.
Football Insider reports that Manchester United are keen to make the most of the Croatian’s situation at his current club.
McAvennie was asked whether Chelsea would be prepared to let a first-team star join one of their Premier League rivals.
“You have got to get the number of players down to 25. Chelsea have got to get that sorted soon. I can see it, though. Kovacic is going to Manchester United. He is a decent player, and I really think he would do well there,” he said.
