EPL He’s quiet – Paul Merson names Arsenal’s best player this season. Arsenal legend, Paul Merson has claimed that the team’s captain Martin Odegaard is their best player over winger Bukayo Saka this season.
Merson described Odegaard as a quiet leader that leads by example.
“He’s a quiet leader, but he leads by example. I think he’s Arsenal’s best player,” Merson said (via The Boot Room).
“He is their captain and he doesn’t go around shouting the odds like some captains, but he doesn’t need to because he is always taking responsibility on the pitch. His teammates respond to him and he brings people into the game at the right time.”
Odegaard has scored 23 goals and registered 15 assists in 101 games for Arsenal.
The 24-year-old joined Arsenal on a six-month loan spell from Real Madrid in January 2021.
