EPL Former Man Utd star, Paul Parker names perfect manager for Chelsea. Former Manchester United defender, Paul Parker has told Chelsea owners to hire former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino on a permanent basis instead of Jose Mourinho.
Having dismissed Graham Potter last week over a series of poor results since after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Chelsea’s former midfielder and manager, Frank Lampard, was contracted on an interim basis till the end of the season.
Chelsea is looking up for possible options which include Mauricio Pochettino, former Bayern Munich manager, Julian Naglesmann, as well as ex-Spain and Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique.
Jose Mourinho, who has had two stints at the club and another former Stamford Bridge boss, Carlo Ancelotti are part of the names on Chelsea’s list.
Speaking to SpilXperten, Parker named Pochettino as the ideal full-time choice for the Chelsea job ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
“They should do everything in their power to get Pochettino. He is the perfect manager for them. Many were criticising him after he left PSG, which is miserable. That club is outrageous and if you’re not winning the Champions League, you’re going to be sacked,” he said.
“The last person I want to see is Jose Mourinho and I don’t think that they want him back for the third time. They are tired of his arrogance and they have to move on even… though it would be typical for the Blues to do something like that and hire him.”
The Portuguese boss, arguably the most successful manager at Stamford Bridge, won numerous trophies such as the Premier League title in the 2004-5 and 2005-6 seasons and the FA and Carabao Cups.
Mourinho has managed clubs and won trophies at FC Porto, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and now AS Roma. His second stint at Stamford Bridge did not, however, end in the way he would have wished as he was sacked by former Blues owner, Roman Abramovich following a series of bad results.
