Biography

Dušan Vlahović was born on 28 January 2000 to the family of Milos Vlahovic and Sladjana Vlahovic in Belgrade, Serbia. Dusan is a Serbian professional footballer. He plays the role of a striker for Serie A club Juventus and the Serbia national team.

Dusan Graduated from Partizan’s youth system and made his first-team appearance in 2016, thereby, winning a league title and two Serbian Cups. He moved to Italian club Fiorentina in 2018. With 21 league goals in the 2020–2021 Serie A, Dusan was awarded Serie A Best Young Player. After an outstanding goalscoring form in the first half of 2021–2022, Italian rivals Juventus signed him in January 2022 for a remored fee of €70 million.

Dusan is a former Serbia youth international, representing his country at various youth levels, before making his senior international appearance in 2020 during the UEFA Nations League. He helped his nation qualify to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Early Life & Education

Dušan Vlahović was born on 28 January 2000 to the family of Milos Vlahovic and Sladjana Vlahovic. Dusan was born to a middle-class family in Belgrade, Serbia. Dusan grew up with his one and only sibling named Andjela Vlahovic. Dusan childhood wasn’t an easy one as he witnessed a lot of battles during Yugoslavian war which his brother died on the process when Dusan was still young. Dusan and his family moved from one resident to another in order to escape from the Yugoslavian war.

Right from childhood, Dusan was so passionate about football. Dusan and his sister Andjela were Partizan football club fans since their childhood. He was outstanding and statically gifted with the ball on his feet.

His passion and talent for football lead him into Altina football school in the capital of Belgrade, Serbia. Upon his raw skills and shooting capability, he was signed for the youth team of Serbian football club Partizan. Dusan played most of the matches in his youth career by impressing the coach of his youth team.

Career

In 2014, Dusan joined rivals Partizan and signed his first professional contract with Partizan in 2015 at the age of 15. In 2016, Dusan joined the first team under coach Ivan Tomić and was given the jersey number 9.

On 21 February, He made his Serbian SuperLiga appearance against OFK Beograd, as the Partizan’s youngest player in history. In the next fixture, played on 27 February, Dusan became the youngest player to play the Eternal derby, in which he was substituted on for the beginning of the second half.

In June 2017, Dusan signed a five-year preliminary contract with Fiorentina, which became official on his 18th birthday, on 28th January 2018. Dusan was officially bought by Fiorentina on 22th February 2018, choosing to wear the number 18.

Due to administrative norms, he was not available to play until 1st July 2018. Initially registered to Fiorentina’s under-19s. At the age 18, Dusan made his senior appearance for Fiorentina on 25th September 2018, in a 2–1 Serie A defeat to Inter Milan; in the process, he became the first player born in the 2000s to represent the club.

Media reports centred heavily on Arsenal’s pursuit of Dusan, however on 28th January 2022, his 22nd birthday, Dusan signed for Juventus on a four-and-a-half-year contract; in a deal rumored to have worth €70 million, plus €10 million in performance-related bonuses, making him the most expensive transfer in the Serie A winter transfer window.

Dusan was a member of the Serbia national under-15 team, scoring a hat trick in a match against the Czech Republic on 16 April 2015. He was also called up to the under-16 squad in late 2015, making his appearnce against Poland on 27 October 2015.

In August 2016, Vlahovic was called up to the under-19 squad for the Stevan Vilotic memorial tournament, where he appeared in the opening match against the United States. In the second match of the same tournament, he scored a goal against France. After Serbia beat Israel in the final match, Dusan was nominated for the most talented player of the tournament

On 11th October 2020, Dusan made his senior team appearance in a 2020/2021 UEFA Nations League game against Hungary. On 18th November, He scored his first international goal in a 5–0 home win over Russia in the Nations League.

Afterwards, Dusan embarked on an outstanding goalscoring form for his national team, with his four goals, including a brace against Azerbaijan on 12th October 2021, proving to be crucial as Serbia secured qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup at top of their qualifying group ahead of the former European champions, Portugal, after defeating them 2–1 away from home.

In November 2022, he was selected in Serbia’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He played in group stage matches against Brazil and Switzerland. In a match against Switzerland he scored a goal. Serbia finished fourth in the group.

Dusan has made a total number of 171 appearances in his lifetime club career football as of 25th October 2022 and scored a total number of sixty-eight (68) goals. Dusan has made 19 appearances for Serbia and scored a total number of ten (10) goals as of 2nd December 2022.
