The Englishman pointed out that there were a lot of positives to take home despite their loss and early elimination.
The former Brighton manager said, “There was a lot to enjoy” about the game, noting that his team had many opportunities to score but came up empty-handed.
“We successfully attacked and generated some significant opportunities. Although we weren’t flawless, we played well overall, he told Sky Sports.
“It was a good performance; it was a step in the right direction for our style of play. Despite my disappointment at the outcome, I was pleased with the performance.
The Blues will now take against competitive Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Saturday before the World Cup break.
