This week’s Carabao Cup semifinal matches saw victories for Newcastle and Man United over their rivals.
The Red Devils overcame Nottingham Forest 5-0 over two legs, while the Magpies defeated Southampton 3-1 overall.
On February 26, the two teams will square off at Wembley in the championship match, which will mark Newcastle’s first cup final since 1999.
Pearce, who played 52 times for Newcastle between 1997 and 1999, thinks Eddie Howe’s team has what it takes to upset Man United.
Pearce told talkSPORT, “I have a funny sense Newcastle will win it [the Carabao Cup].”
“They have finished four or five years early. People said that the money was coming in the previous year and that the [Premier League] top six may be in jeopardy.
You were thinking, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ve heard this all before,” but what they have accomplished this year is incredible.
