Leaked sex video Court awards N5m damages against singer, Oxlade

Leaked sex video Court awards N5m damages against singer, Oxlade. Ikuforijimi Olaitan Abdulrahman, better known by his stage name Oxlade, was given N5 million in damages by an Ikeja High Court in Lagos State as a result of a leaked sex tape with a woman who was identified as John Blessing online.

Justice Olalekan Oresanya referred to the musician’s covert recording of having sex with a lady as “despicable, awful, classless, and unpleasant” in his ruling on the 24th of January 2023.

Social media users discovered Oxlade’s sex tape without the woman’s permission.

Outrage over the leaked tape led Oxlade to publicly apologize to the woman involved as well as his fans.

Blessing had filed a lawsuit in March 2022 asking for N20 million in damages and a ruling that the singer had flagrantly violated enabling laws and violated her fundamental rights to dignity, privacy, and freedom from discrimination under Sections 34 and 37 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Articles 5 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (Ratif) by secretly recording his explicit sexual acts.

In addition, Justice Oresanya chastised the performer for disrespecting the legal system and claimed that his lawyer was complicit in the singer’s desecration of the temple of justice.

Oxlade was directed to pay Blessing the sum of N5 million in damages over two equal installments by the judge who approved the terms of settlement on January 11th, 2023.
