Tottenham created two unwanted pieces of Premier League history following their 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Thursday evening.
Ange Postecoglou’s side went in front through Cristian Romero’s early header, but could not hold on to the lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
West Ham hit back in the second half through goals from Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse.
Spurs could have drawn level on points with fourth-placed Manchester City with a win, but continue to fall away from the top-placed sides in the divisions with another defeat.
They have now lost four of their last five matches in the Premier League, with the only point they have picked up arriving in Sunday’s thrilling 3-3 draw with City at the Etihad Stadium.
But it is the manner of the defeats which will no doubt concern Postecoglou the most ahead of a busy run of festive fixtures.
And OptaJoe have revealed that injury-hit Spurs have set two unwanted Premier League records as a result of their loss to their London rivals.
They are the first side in the history of the Premier League to fail to win five consecutive games after going 1-0 up, and have lost three consecutive home games after leading by the same scoreline.
West Ham, meanwhile, have now won three of their last four Premier League following a dip in form.
David Moyes’ side are now just three points behind Spurs, and could rise to as high as fifth with a win at Fulham on Sunday.
Spurs must now regroup after what was an incredible start to the season, and one which saw them top the Premier League table in November.
They host Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, before a trip to the City Ground to take on struggling Nottingham Forest.
