EPL You have to behave yourself – Schmeichel warns Man United winger. Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has warned Brazilian winger Antony to ‘behave himself’.
He said that the former Ajax star was ‘lucky’ to avoid a red card during last night’s defeat against Brighton.
Brighton defeated the Red Devils 1-0 on Thursday night to avenge their recent FA Cup semi-final loss to Erik ten Hag’s men.
Alexis MacAllister scored a 99th-minute penalty to give the homeside all three points.
Schmeichel felt the Brazilian winger’s petulance acted as a catalyst for Brighton during the closing stages of the match.
Antony needlessly hacked down MacAllister and immediately squared up to Lewis Dunk.
Talking about Antony’s behaviour, the former goalkeeper told Premier League Productions, “He[Antony] went absolutely berserk…
“But I don’t like the reaction, this is crazy and he is lucky staying on the pitch because that’s a red card, there’s no doubt about it.
“You cannot do that as a Man Utd player you have to behave yourself. This is revenge you don’t do that, you cannot do that in a game of football.”
Manchester United remain fourth in the league table but need to win their remaining games to avoid being toppled by Liverpool who are breathing down their neck.
Erik ten Hag’s side are on 63 points, just four points ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side in fifth place though with a game in hand.
