In order for Liverpool to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool icon, has advised them that they must make one addition during the January transfer window.
Carragher contends that Liverpool must add a midfielder in the mold of Georginio Wijnaldum who, combined with Fabhino, can shield their back four and prevent players from slicing through.
The former defender talked following Monday night’s 3-1 Premier League loss to Brentford for Liverpool.
“They are now fighting for a spot in the Champions League after being a squad that was vying for four championships. In the summer, Liverpool didn’t add a midfielder, according to Carragher, speaking to Sky Sports.
Without adding a midfielder, they will be unable to finish in the top four. It won’t change, in my opinion, until the season is out.
They require a midfielder in the mold of [Georginio] Wijnaldum who, along with Fabhino, can shield the back four and prevent players from cutting in.
Liverpool is presently sixth in the Premier League standings.
On January 14, Brighton will host Jurgen Klopp’s team in their next Premier League game.
