Merson argues that the 20-year-old new acquisition is not significantly superior to players like Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling.
The former Arsenal player questioned Todd Boehly and his staff’s decision to spend money on players who are not superior to those currently on the squad.
Maduekwe made the £29 million transfer from Ajax to Stamford Bridge and has now made three appearances for Graham Potter’s team.
Merson has questioned the winger’s signing after watching him in a few Blues games.
“You can’t tell me Noni Madueke is a better player than Christian Pulisic or Raheem Sterling. He isn’t. Why are you investing in so many players when what you already have is sufficient? On Sky Sports, he remarked.
