Bayelsa United’s management recently announced a change in their jersey strategy for league matches, opting out of using branded jerseys. The team, known as the Prosperity Boys, clarified this decision in a statement addressed to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The statement conveyed that Bayelsa United would halt the use of their branded jerseys until a resolution is reached between their sponsors, Halkin Exploration and Production Limited, and the state government.
Notably, the former Federation Cup champions had unveiled a new kit featuring their sponsor’s name over the weekend. However, pending resolution between stakeholders, the team will not sport these jerseys.
Bayelsa United is scheduled to face Rivers United in a rescheduled matchday 12 fixture at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Thursday. This match follows their recent return to winning form, ending a six-game winless streak.
As of now, Bayelsa United occupies the bottom position on the NPFL table.
