Arsenal sign Poland defender Kiwior from Spezia. Jakub Kiwior, a defender from Poland, was acquired by Premier League leaders Arsenal on Monday from Italian team Spezia in a deal reportedly worth £12 million ($27 million).

The club claims that Kiwior and the north Londoners have reached a “long-term contract.”

The 22-year-old, who represented Poland at the World Cup in Qatar, watched the Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

In 2021, Kiwior, who had previously played for Anderlecht in Belgium, transferred from MSK Zilina to Spezia.

While playing for the Serie A team, he made 43 appearances, which caught the attention of Mikel Arteta, the manager of the Arsenal.

Jakub joining us is wonderful. He is a youthful, agile defender who has distinguished himself with Poland at the international level as well as Spezia in Serie A, according to Arteta.

“Jakub is a player who will offer our defense strength and quality. Jakub and his family are welcome here at Arsenal, and we look forward to working with him.

Edu, the sports director of Arsenal, continued, “We’re thrilled to have finished the acquisition of Jakub Kiwior. We’ve been keeping an eye on this rising star for a time.
