Another Catholic priest kidnapped in Kaduna. In the early hours of Monday, a second Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Silas, was kidnapped in Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

After failing to show up for morning service, Fr. Silas, the priest in charge of St. Charles Catholic Church, Zambina in the Kauru LGA, was reported missing.

The tragic news was revealed in a statement released on Monday by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okolo, the Chancellor of the Kafanchan Catholic Diocese.

Another Catholic priest kidnapped in Kaduna. However, he implored the Christian community to maintain their composure while legal procedures are being used to secure his safe and prompt release.

“It is with great anguish that we disclose to you the kidnapping of our Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Silas,” reportedly said Fr. Okolo in the statement. The tragic incident is thought to have happened early on July 4, 2022, when he was supposed to attend morning Mass but was unable to.

He was taken away from St. Charles Catholic Church’s parish rectory in Zambina, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

“While we ask for fervent prayers for his swift and safe release, we also want to appeal to everyone to desist from enforcing the law. To ensure his immediate and secure release, we shall employ all legal means.

Recently, criminals have wreaked havoc on Christians in the state, primarily targeting Catholic priests.

Just two weeks ago, while working on his farm, Reverend Father Vitus Borogo was attacked by robbers, who also kidnapped his brother. Last Monday, he was buried in the state capital.

Between last month and today, additional catholic priests were also abducted in Katsina, Edo, and other states, amid a recent rise in hoodlum attacks on the Christian community.
