Disobeying court order invitation to anarchy – Kogi LP Chieftain Averehi warns INEC. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been cautioned by Bayo Averehi, a chieftain of the Labour Party in Kogi State, not to subject the nation to complete anarchy by following the court’s order allowing its lawyers to examine the election materials used in the February 25 presidential election.
In a statement delivered to media on Monday in Lokoja, Averehi issued the warning.
According to the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor in Kogi State, INEC was formed by national law and must submit to the authority of the highest court in the land.
Averehi said that it is absurd for any person, institution, or organization to choose which court decisions to obey and which not to obey, despite the fact that the election umpire is required to be impartial and must be made to comply with court rulings in order to prevent anarchy in the nation.

As a result of their unmatched and monumental disappointment with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the alleged election malpractices and massive rigging recorded in the recently concluded Presidential election, the youth and masses of this country, who believe in the “Rule of Law” and also believe that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man, have instead decided to go before the court to seek justice.
“Anarchy is brought about when institutions established by law ignore the rule of law and flagrantly disobey court orders and rulings, as the INEC is currently doing in the current case where the court has granted the Labour Party and its presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi an order to inspect the electoral materials used for the recently concluded presidential election. But, INEC has categorically refused to follow the court’s ruling, instead choosing to implement the second order of the court to modify the BVAS machine, he lamented.
