Guber election Defend your votes – Enugu LP candidate, Edeoga begs electorate. The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the state, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga, has urged voters to stand up for their votes as a way of getting rid of politicians who have turned the state’s economic resources into private businesses amid widespread worries following rumors of possible use of violence in Saturday’s governorship and Houses of Assembly elections in Enugu State.

Edeoga said he was aware of intentions by some political players in the state to employ violence and thuggery to affect the results of the elections as he addressed party leaders and supporters from Aninri and Awgu Local Government Areas.

Yet, he asserted that he thought the populace might thwart such tactics if they banded together in fortitude.

Edeoga thanked Enugu voters for helping the Labour Party win the presidency, the senate, and the house of representatives on February 25. He urged them to do the same during the governorship elections to solidify the Labour Party’s emergence as the new platform for freedom and accelerated development in the State.

Voting for the Labour Party, according to him, is crucial because it will confirm the overwhelming support given to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the previous elections, and it will demonstrate once more that the votes cast in Enugu were not an accident, particularly in light of the fact that the election is still being challenged in court.

“You don’t need to be terrified of these violent threats. They are only attempting to frighten you. They attempted it at the most recent election but were unsuccessful.

“This win by democratic forces, for the Labour Party, should not be undermined; it should not be frustrated. We must protect the integrity of our communities by fighting the invasion by outsiders, whether they are named Ayes, Black Axe, or Black Thugs.

“We must safeguard the right of every person, including women, men, and adolescents, to vote in an unrestricted manner without interference, harassment, or humiliation.”

The Labour Party candidate for governor said, “Enugu State is advertised as a tranquil area. Every attempt to disturb the tranquility of Enugu State, whether covert or overt, should be opposed.

“I am urging, requesting, and crying out to all Enugu State youths and people over the PDP’s and their henchmen’s continuous attempt to rig the election that will take place on Saturday. The Labour party’s route to success is unquestionable and unambiguous, and it is an expressive declaration of the new course Enugu State desires to take.

But, there is a risk of a turnabout brought on by those who have destroyed Enugu State, mismanaged Enugu State, and shown no compassion for or love for our people. Thus, we ask that you refrain from destroying our votes. Vote in person and remain to see your ballots being tallied.

He urged them to resist any attempt by any electoral officer or agent to leave polling stations or collation centers without announcing and uploading the results to the INEC portal. He reminded the people of the state that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had directed people to remain at their polling places until results are counted and uploaded.
