2023 AFCONQ Peseiro defends Osimhen after he fires blanks against Guinea-Bissau. Victor Osimhen received support from Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro after the Napoli forward failed to score against Guinea-Bissau on Monday night for the second game in a row.

This season, Osimhen has been sensational for Napoli both at home and in Europe.

The 24-year-old, however, was unable to continue his recent success in the two games against the Djurtus.

In both legs, Osimhen squandered a number of excellent scoring opportunities.

On Monday night at the September 24 Stadium, the former Wolfsburg striker was denied by the crossbar and the goalkeeper Bruno Mendes.

According to Peseiro, Osimhen is under greater pressure to perform well for the Super Eagles than for his club.

Victor is the finest striker in Europe, but it does happen (for him not to score a goal),” Peseiro remarked in his post-game press conference.

“He fights for the team, but the national team puts more pressure on him than Napoli does, and that’s not good.”

With five goals, Osimhen now leads the qualifiers in goal scoring.
