Osinbajo asserted that a widely disseminated memo claiming to be from him was false and that he never requested Buhari’s consent to leave the APC.
The memo, titled “Permission to resign from APC,” dated June 24, 2022, referenced SH/VP/605/2./0, and identified family pressure as one of the factors leading to the purported decision.

The Vice President was charged with abandoning Bola Tinubu, the eventual election winner, prior to the presidential primaries.
The Vice President was questioned for running against Osinbajo since Tinubu is thought to be his political godfather.
After becoming the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu chose Kashim Shettima, a Muslim from the North, as his running mate.
