Suspected herdsmen have renewed attacks in Benue – PDP alerts

Suspected herdsmen have renewed attacks in Benue – PDP alerts. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned of further assaults in Benue by alleged herdsmen.

At a press conference in the nation’s capital of Makurdi, interim state chairman Isaac Mffo sounded the alarm.

Mffo lamented the deaths, farm losses, and population relocation brought on by the recent assault on rural areas.

The lawmaker claimed that if the matter is not resolved, it will exacerbate the issue of low voter participation in the state elections on March 11.

He asked the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Buhari administration to accept its duty.

To protect civilians “against the herdsmen who have terrorized the state for too long,” the PDP asked for the deployment of security personnel.

Nonetheless, Mffo declared that the PDP will contest the results of the presidential and national assembly elections.

The chairman further stated that the behavior was in violation of Sections 60 (5) and 148 of the Electoral Act of 2022 (as amended).
