Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State unveiled an N800 billion 2024 Appropriation Bill before the state House of Assembly during a session that included only five members allied with him.
This development follows the state government’s recent initiation of the House of Assembly complex’s demolition.
Earlier, 27 members of the House, aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor, Nyesom Wike, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During the budget presentation, these 27 lawmakers were notably absent, while the Governor addressed the Edison Ehie-led assembly members in a Government House hall.
