We’ll never abandon Peter Obi – Taraba LP guber candidate. Sen. Joel Danlami Ikenya, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for governor in Taraba State, has refuted claims that the state chapter of the party has switched its allegiance from Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, to another candidate.
Ikenya, who was reacting to the claimed endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, guber candidate for the state, Kefas Agbu, also refuted the endorsement noting that “I am still in the race”.
When speaking on the “Correspondent’s Chapel Media parley, the Road to 2023” on Friday, the former minister of labor and productivity announced the party’s position. “We have not given up on our mandate,” was asserted.
“We prevailed in our national election, and we are making every effort to reclaim our mandate throughout the nation. We cannot and will never desert Peter Obi because he needs our help, he stated.
The guber candidate declared, “We are not just for a new Nigeria, but also for a new Taraba,” noting that the party has begun making preparations to win the next gubernatorial election scheduled for this month’s 18th.
The party’s leadership also asked its members, who are dispersed throughout the state, to reject the alleged support.
Esther Gulum, the party’s state chairwoman, agreed with Ikenya that the party was “completely prepared to go into the impending election.” She said that the alleged endorsement was the product of a desperate man’s fantasy.
