Buhari assents to two more bills. Two bills that the National Assembly just approved have received the assent of President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was revealed in a statement by Nasiru Baballe Ila, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Affairs in the House of Representatives.
The two measures received the President’s approval on March 17, 2023, according to Ila.
COPYRIGHT ACT 2022, this Act repeals the Copyright Act, Cap C28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and enacts the Copyright Act 2022 to provide for the regulation, protection, and administration of copyright, according to the statement. The new Copyright Act has once again shown how dedicated this administration is to reviving Nigeria’s creative sector and enhancing its global competitiveness in the digital era.

The new Copyright Act increases penalties for criminal violations, broadens author rights, and more effectively tackles issues raised by digital and online usage of copyrighted works. The Act also makes particular provisions for the requirements of those who are blind, visually impaired, or have a print disability, allowing them to access educational and reading resources in accessible formats.
“FEDERAL COLLEGE OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, JOS ACT, 2023,” which establishes the Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science, Jos, repeals the Federal School of Medical Laboratory Science, Jos (Establishment) Act of 2018 and replaces it with the Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology, Jos Act, 2023.
