EPL Be careful when talking about him – Rio Ferdinand warns critics over £85m striker. Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, issued a warning to individuals berating Darwin Nunez, a striker for Liverpool.

Ferdinand claims that it is too soon to make judgments on the struggling striker, who arrived at the Reds in the summer of 2017 in a record-breaking £85 million transfer from Benfica.

Ferdinand compared the Uruguayan to Diego Forlan, a former colleague at Manchester United.

Nunez has thus far had trouble living up to his price tag; in 21 games, he has scored nine goals and provided three assists.

He has been under fire for blowing significant opportunities, especially after the recent Carabao Cup loss to Manchester City.

Ferdinand, though, thinks that the 23-year-old may emulate fellow Uruguayan Forlan by becoming a great striker.

The United legend advised listeners to use caution while discussing individuals like Nunez on the FIVE podcast.

Do you recall Diego Forlan? He could not hit a barn door at Old Trafford, with the exception of a goal against the Scousers, the man continued.

After leaving Manchester United, Forlan went on to win two European Golden Shoes, establish himself as a legend for both his country’s team and the different teams he played for, according to Rio Ferdinand.

On Monday, Darwin Nunez failed to connect on a shot, and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds lost to Brentford 3-1.
