Renowned Nigerian fashion entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani, recently shared a chilling experience she faced during surgery, enduring a 10-minute period of clinical death when her lungs collapsed.
Lawani took to Instagram last Friday to reveal her ordeal, disclosing her diagnosis of a degenerative spine and a brain cyst.
In a video documenting her journey through the pre-surgery phase and the challenges encountered during the procedure, Lawani detailed the implant surgery for her C5 and C6 spine sections.
Recalling the traumatic experience, she stated, “I experienced 10 minutes of clinical death. During my pregnancy with my daughter @kingtinukeleora, I began experiencing severe neck, back, and leg pains. Eventually, I’d get paralyzed on my left side, rendering me immobile. Continuous painkiller injections became routine.”
Further revealing the severity of her condition, Lawani added, “Diagnosed with a degenerative spine and a brain cyst, I was pronounced clinically dead for 10 minutes before being revived. My lungs collapsed, leading to edema. After the spinal implant to regain mobility, complications arose, requiring a tracheostomy tube for three months.”
