Mercy Aigbe, the prominent Nollywood actress, recently disclosed the reasons behind her conversion from Christianity to Islam after marrying filmmaker Kazeem Adeoti in 2022.
In a candid interview with TVC, Aigbe, now known as Hajiah Amminah, revealed that her decision to embrace Islam stemmed from her deep affection for her husband.
Expressing her profound love for her husband, Aigbe emphasized that his love was pivotal, allowing both herself and his first wife to coexist harmoniously.
She explained, “My decision to convert to Islam was primarily driven by my affection for my husband. Love played a significant role in my choice. I am content; I have children. It was my love for my husband that led me to remarry.”
As an individual with an open-minded perspective on religion, Aigbe highlighted her appreciation for her husband’s devoutness. She expressed that after grappling with attending church services post-COVID-19, she willingly chose to follow her husband’s Islamic faith.
Aigbe emphasized that her conversion strengthened and enhanced their relationship, creating a more profound bond. She expressed her enthusiasm for learning about Islam, stating, “Converting to Islam has deepened our connection and brought a new sweetness to our relationship. I’m actively learning about the religion, and ultimately, we worship the same God.”
