Early Life & Education

Niamh Louise Charles was born on 21st June 1999 in Wirral Peninsula, United Kingdom. She started playing football as a very tender age.

According to her “My childhood playing football was just pure joy and happiness”. her earliest memory of football was playing for the boys’ grassroots team in West Kirby where she grew up. she used to go down to West Kirby Wasps and at first, she wanted to be there, but she hated it at the same time.

She would hold on to her dad’s leg at the start of the sessions but she would play, she love it and by the end she would never want to leave. she always used to remember the summer nights when we would have training and my parenst would come to pick me up but none of us would want to leave. she usually trains from 7pm to 8pm but always doesn’t like to stop training until 8:30pm or 9pm.

Niamh always wanted to play football as a kid. she found it more fun in the garden, diving around, but with her mum would never let her go in goal in matches because she didn’t want her to get hurt and still to this day is saying not to go in goal.
playing with boys’ teams growing up was all she knew, so she can’t really compare it to anything else but love it.
When she was younger, she doesn’t think about making money or making a living, but she just wanted to play football as much as possible. she was seeing people who were playing football fully, but it was probably not as professional as it is now, and you probably couldn’t make the money until you become full-time. so, she was on the border in terms of not seeing it as an option but then as she got older, she started to have female football idols like Fara Williams. as she always watches her thinking she was unbelievable.

Niamh graduated from John Moores University, where she had a sports scholarship programmed. she did a full-time course, and it was really difficult for her and her football career. it was a sport and exercise science degree, which she doesn’t think she would have done if she wasn’t looking to be a professional footballer. It was a course which was not as many contact hours so she was able to do it and she remembered initially she would find herself thinking she will really like this because it is helping her football.

Personal Life

Niamh Louise Charles was a sensational watch, especially with link-up play with Lauren Hemp and Jess Park down the left flank where they dominated the Italians. Niamh got involved assisting the attack with overlaps and one-two balls luring in blue shirts, and yet carried out her defensive duties flawlessly.

Most of Niamh’ play was in the midfield third, but she seemed happy to offer box-to-box assistance on the left. Her high press was often rewarded with a turnover of possession which was capitalised on immediately thanks to the aforementioned link-ups.

Club manager Emma Hayes has spoken highly of Niamh’s starting left-back, particularly regarding her skill and positional versatility in the commentary.

Niamh is able to play both defensive and attacking roles on either flank, with two goals under her belt in 11 appearances so far, and is proving to be invaluable at club level. That will hopefully reflect on the international stage come the World Cup in the summer.

Niamh is currently not in any relationship and there’s no information about her family.
