Date and purpose: Justice Obiora Egwuatu set October 12 in order to allow parties to the lawsuit to finish completing their processes and exchanging information as required by law.
Tinubu requests the court to dismiss the case: At the resumed hearing, Ukpai Ukairo, the attorney for Action Alliance, the party that filed the lawsuit, informed the court that he had just received Tinubu’s notice of preliminary objection, in which the latter requested that the court not take the case against him on a number of grounds.
Argument made by Tinubu: In the preliminary objection, Tinubu asserted that the electoral forms he presented to the electoral board in 1999 and the report of the Lagos State House of Assembly, both of which are now stale, serve as the basis for the certificate forgery complaint brought against him.
Argument from the opposition: However, counsel for the Action Alliance informed the court that the arguments of the former governor of Lagos State, particularly those relating to the post being legally banned, will be appropriately addressed in the ensuing proceedings.
