Be calm, don’t overreact to election results – Charly Boy urges youths. Mr. Charles Oputa, a.k.a. “Charly Boy,” has urged Nigerian youngsters to maintain composure and restrain themselves when reacting to the INEC’s announcement of the election results for 2023.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday at the Unity Fountain in Abuja, Oputa made the statement.
The performer said that the youngsters were protesting the allegedly fraudulent election results announced by the Independent National Election Commission when he spoke in response to their gathering at the Unity Fountain (INEC).
“Young people are assembling to voice their displeasure with the circumstances and the just held fraudulent elections.
“As Area Father, I’m just here to make sure everything is calm and that everyone is acting morally.
“I support what they are doing because I believe in what they are doing.
When you consider the amount of money the Federal Government squandered on the process, the election outcome is the most fictitious, obnoxious, and financially disastrous, he claimed.
He claimed that we must exercise judgment because we cannot afford to appear to be overreacting since we are aware of how the opponents would use it against us.
Oputa expressed happiness with how young Nigerians behaved throughout the election.
The peaceful walk’s organizer, Mr. Isaac Balami, stated that the demonstration was in response to INEC’s announcement of the 2023 presidential election results.
By failing to fulfill its pledges, he said INEC had violated the political parties’ peace agreement and the code of conduct.
Balami attributed the high voter turnout nationwide to INEC’s assurances that the election would be transparent and that voters’ votes would be counted.
He said that when INEC realized the APC was losing the poll, the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) stopped functioning in the middle of the election.
The lack of APC victory celebrations across the nation, according to Balami, is proof that the election outcome was not representative of the will of the electorate.
