APC congratulates Tems on winning Grammy award. Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, is an award-winning singer from Nigeria who has received congratulations from the All Progressive Congress, or APC.
Tems was the first female singer from Nigeria to accomplish the achievement, and the governing party praised her for it in a tweet on Monday.
Congratulations to Temilade Openiyi (@temsbaby) for winning the Grammy Award; this is a first for a female Nigerian musician.
Tems’ participation to the 2022 hit song “Wait for U,” which also included Future and Drake, earned her the prize for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
The only Nigerian artists nominated for the Grammys in 2023 were Tems and Burna Boy.
On the other side, Burna Boy was unsuccessful in winning the Best Global Music Performance and Best Global Music Album awards.
The 65th Grammy Awards ceremony took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, on February 5, 2023.
