Why Real Madrid legend, Marcelo snubbed move to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. Marcelo, a former Real Madrid player, passed on the chance to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr since the Saudi Pro League club could only have finalized his deal in June.
Another reason Marcelo was unable to travel to Saudi Arabia with Ronaldo was because Al-Nassr would have had to release a foreign player in order to make room for the Brazilian left-back in their squad.
As a free agent, Marcelo has already joined his old team, Fluminense.
Due to fitness concerns, his contract with the Greek club Olympiakos was recently canceled.
Bruno Andrade, a CNN Portugal correspondent, claims that Marcelo ultimately chose to transfer to Fluminense since it was simpler for him to execute the transfer to the Brazilian team.
With Cristiano Ronaldo on his mind, Marcelo held chats with Al Nassr, who could only go through with the signing in June since he would still need to fill a foreign vacancy in the squad, according to a tweet from Andrade on Friday. Fluminense seemed confident and strong when moving.
