Nigerian-born UFC fighter, Israel Adesanya arrested days after losing belt. Israel Adesanya, a UFC fighter of Nigerian descent, was detained at the JFK Airport while passing through security.
This occurs just four days after he was defeated by Alex Pereira for the UFC middleweight belt.
According to TMZ, Adesanya was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon, shortly before 2 p.m. local time, close to the American Airlines gate at JFK.

If found guilty, Adesanya may be sentenced to up to a year in jail as well as possible penalties.
Adesanya is currently being held by the police and might not be allowed to leave New York until the investigations are finished.
Brass knuckles belonging to Adesanya are not known to have been in his carry-on luggage, on him, or in a checked suitcase. Currently unknown is the possession’s intended use.
