EPL Dalot identifies key lesson Man Utd learned in 3-1 loss to Aston Villa. Diogo Dalot, a defender for Manchester United, said that his team’s 3-1 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday was a significant lesson.
Aston Villa defeated Manchester United at home for the first time since 1995.
For Unai Emery’s team against the Red Devils at Villa Park, Leon Bailey, Lucas Digne, and Jacob Ramsey each scored a goal.
Dalot believes that the fact that Man United gave up twice after just 11 minutes and allowed the home team to score early in the second half has taught Erik ten Hag’s team a vital lesson about the need to “start considerably quicker” in games.
Dalot stated on the club’s official website, “Obviously, it is a step back and we have to look at it as a lesson.”
We have another chance on Thursday [against Villa in the Carabao Cup], and this is a competition we want to win, so [we must] attempt to do it better in the upcoming games.
“I’m dissatisfied. We anticipated that today’s game would be challenging, but the first 10 minutes and the first five minutes of the second half didn’t go as planned.
“I believe that was pivotal for them. And we may use that as a lesson for the upcoming games. We must begin much more rapidly and sharply, and we are dissatisfied since we intended to succeed.
We understood they intended to draw the crowd with them, which is why I advised we had to start with enthusiasm.
Before their subsequent Premier League match against Fulham on Sunday, Man United will play Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.
