Why celebrity marriages don’t last – ex-BBNaija winner Phyna. Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, aka Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija season seven, has shared her thoughts on why so many marriages in the Nigerian entertainment sector fail.
The reality TV star talked about the challenges she had while trying to get into the spotlight in a recent TVC interview.
Phyna gave the finger to people who take their career too seriously when asked why musicians commonly have marriage issues.
“It’s fantastic when one artist marries another entertainer because they both know what they’re doing,” she remarked. They are both business-savvy, so you will understand when I say that I am busy. A non-entertainer doesn’t, though.
“All you need is to sit across from someone who gets it. Since most of them are fronting the famous life, many celebrity marriages fail. I don’t even act or appear like a star while I’m with my lover.
“I’m a typical girl, like you. The moment you bring up topics like how you should be this or that in a marriage, issues arise. Make your connection resemble that of everyday, everyday individuals.
“In such case, it will be successful. Celebrities nowadays who are happily married exist.
She claimed that if she could alter anything about the industry, it would be to give more young performers a platform.
I will start providing opportunities to up-and-coming artists, especially female ones, she declared. There are several challenges we confront in the sector. I believe I would make a shift and provide that stage for all female artists.
“Only they are aware of what is being faked. Even the cost of made-up living has increased. You may live a respectable and authentic life for less money than you would spend on leading a false one. So pretending till you succeed is absolutely absurd,” she continued.
