Ombolanle Raheem: Mr Macaroni tackles police for protecting their men. Debo Adebayo, also known as Mr. Macaroni, a well-known social activist and comedian in Nigeria, has criticized the police, claiming that they only defend their own.
In contrast to how they handle innocent individuals accused of crimes, the sketch creator said that the police always defend their guys when they commit crimes.
Mr. Macaroni’s claim follows the recent murder of Barrister Ombolanle Raheem in Lagos State on Christmas Day at the hands of a trigger-happy police officer.
On Sunday in the Ajah neighborhood of Lagos, the police officer, an ASP, opened fire on the unarmed lawyer as she was returning from a Christmas church service.
The ASP who shot Raheem and two other police officers who were on duty with him have subsequently been brought into jail, according to a tweet from SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police public relations officer for Lagos State Command.
“That was an unfortunate and preventable incident. Two other ASPs who were accompanying the shooter have subsequently been arrested. They must be sent to the SCID for additional investigation, wrote SP Hundeyin.
In response to the tweet, Mr. Macaroni, however, said that the police defend their own whenever they break the law, in contrast to how they handle regular individuals when they commit crimes.
“You will give us their identities, even take photographs or films after beating them up,” he stated. “If it was a citizen whom the police suspected of a crime, even before proved guilty. Continue defending yours.
I hope that one day all of our oppressors will be held accountable for their crimes against humanity.
