After a brief illness, Peace Anyiam, known as “the queen of Nollywood films,” died on Monday in Lagos at the St. Nicholas Hospital.
Following the news of her passing, stars like Rita Dominic, Joke Silver, Yul Edochie, Ramsey Nouah, Toyin Abraham, and comedian AY have paid tribute to the late director on social media.
Actress Joke Silva, who highlighted how Peace attempted to fight for her life before passing away, lamented her passing on Instagram, writing, “Death, you are terribly harsh. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, RIP.
“My darling Peace, it is with a sad heart that I write this, and I wish that perhaps it is all a nightmare I will awake from,” Ramsey Nouah stated. You had goals; there were numerous obstacles to overcome, altitudes to scale, and destinies ready to soar on the wings of your platform. Your passing has come as a big shock. In Nollywood, you were a driving force, an icon, and a pioneering figure. Your name has been inscribed in the sands of time, and your legacy endures. Goodbye, sweet sister.
“Goodnight mom @digitalpmoglobal you talked with me on Thursday to encourage me and promised to pop champagne for me,” tweeted actress Toyin Abraham in a tweet. Yul Edochie stated, “Life is very unpredictable,” as he shared his final moments with the departed. She and I spoke over the phone just a few weeks ago, during which she shared her goals for Nollywood in 2023 and praised my efforts. She has left today. Good night, Madam Anyiam-Osigwe. I pray that God would give your family the fortitude to endure the loss.
