ICPC confirms detaining D’Banj over N-Power fraud allegations. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) verified Mr. Oladipo Daniel Oyebanjo’s arrest and imprisonment on Wednesday in connection with the investigation of fraud connected to the N-Power Program. Mr. Oyebanjo is also known by his stage name, D’Banj.
This information was provided to DAILY POST on Wednesday in a statement written by Mrs. Azuka Ogugua, the Commission’s spokesman.
“On June 8, 2016, President Muhammadu Buhari launched the N-Power program to address the problems of young unemployment and empowerment while also promoting social development.
“In accordance with its mandate, the Commission had received several complaints about the misappropriation of N-Power monies totaling billions of naira after the Federal Government approved and released such payments to the recipients. Numerous N-Power beneficiaries had expressed dissatisfaction about not receiving their monthly payments, despite the Government having made them.
“In the last several months, the ICPC has invited about 10 people in relation to the N-Power fraud; following their detention, these people were given administrative release. Mr. Oladipo Daniel Oyebanjo disregarded many requests to come before an investigative team and did not accept any of them.
“On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, Mr. Oyebanjo handed himself in and was taken into jail at the ICPC Headquarters. He is now aiding the investigations in determining the facts surrounding the fraud charges made by the petitioners.
“The inquiry will be thorough and broadened to include more fraud partners as well as the institutions holding the beneficiary accounts.
“In light of the numerous media stories, the press release is required to clarify the situation. The statement read, “The Commission prefers not to preempt the conclusion of the inquiry while it is continuing and also avoids the frenzy of a media trial.
