‘I cried, but kept shooting,’ Funke Akindele recounts filming ‘Battle on Buka Street’. Nollywood actress and director Funke Akindele has shared how the production of “Battle on Buka Street” was almost hampered by a personal issue.
Even though it was her last day on the set and maybe the best day of her career, Funke thought it was the worst day ever.
She claimed that a personal issue caused her to cry, and that she nearly aborted the filming before gathering the courage to do it.

How I and other coworkers were held up for ransom after leaving a movie theater – Asake is goated, says Junior Pope, as fans respond to the singer’s most recent video.
She stated, “The renowned market scene, which I recorded while I was quite depressed, was the biggest obstacle during the filming of Battle on Buka Street. A very personal incident made it one of my saddest days ever; I sobbed uncontrollably and was unable to film, but I reminded myself, Funke, that difficulties will arise.
“So I braced myself, mustered up the bravery, and shot the scene. I went and battled Mercy, and when I came back, I was panting and exhausted from crying earlier, but we had to just finish filming since it was the last day on set. I had started the scene well, and I needed to conclude it well as well.
Later, we continued to run and yell, and I continued to go in front of the team to pray and demolish Bukka Street. Therefore, always pray for courage to persevere since obstacles will arise no matter what you do because it won’t always be simple.
She used inspirational words to caption the video, saying, “No matter how much one is knocked down in life, one must always stay strong since, as the aforementioned proverb states, we are most vulnerable when we cower in fear.
“When we give in to our grief, it indicates that we have allowed our frailty to rule us; with this mentality, nothing in life can be accomplished.
-Never be reluctant to make errors.
-When you fall, get up as soon as possible and continue going.
-Never give in to fear!
-Never question yourself and always have faith in yourself.
The movie “Battle on Bukka Street” by Akindele has gone on to shatter a number of records on its path to become one of the most successful Nigerian productions ever.
